ABOUT
Who Am I ?
Liangchen Sui (b.1997) is a visual designer, sound researcher and multimedia artist. She graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Visual Communication Design in 2022 and is currently a practice-based PhD Candidate in Sonic Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Her research operates at the intersection of visual art and soundscape ecology. Through interdisciplinary experimentation, she explores the boundaries between sound, art and design, with a particular focus on the relationship between visual systems and sonic practices. Working across sound, notation, installation, performance and multi-sensory media, her practice is informed by acoustic ecology, semiotics, musicology, philosophy and technoethics.
Her current research examines the dynamic relationship between humans and non-humans. Grounded in non-anthropocentric thinking, she investigates how sound and symbolic systems can redistribute agency beyond the human. Through critical making and reflective inquiry, her work seeks to rethink language, perception and communication in ecological contexts. Ultimately, she envisions artistic research as a way to engage with emerging conditions of species entanglement, ambiguity and symbiosis.
